one more month and you’re a whole year old! wow! you’re starting to drink less milk and eat more food, you eat three meals a day with a snack in the afternoon as well. we call you garbage disposal because there are times where i literally can’t stop feeding you! put it in front of you and you’ll eat it (as long as it’s something you like!). no changes in your sleep habits, i keep hoping someday you’ll make it past 6:30. it’s ok during the week but on a saturday? no thanks. i prefer 9 am. you’ve been kinda of terror lately at bed time, for some reason you hate getting your pjs on and also having your diaper changed in general. sometimes it’s a two man job taking both me and your daddy to get it done.
you’re constantly standing up now, and you really don’t fall anymore. you’re cruising along the furniture quite well and we keep watching for your first steps. as for talking, you still favor “da”, it seems to be your go to expression for multiple things. but you know exactly what you’re saying when daddy walks in the room, “da da” is no longer a coincidence. sadly i’ll admit it is definitely your first word. once in a while you’ll also throw in “ba” or even “na”. we’re still working on “ma”. funny enough you’re the most vocal when you’re eating. tons of “mmmmmm” and other sounds i have no idea how to spell. there is no such thing as a quiet dinner around here! you’re still wearing 12 month clothes but they’re getting a little snug. i would bet we’ll be in 18 months by your birthday.
we’ve also started to notice a bit of a temper on you. when we tell you no or take something away from you that you’re not supposed to play with, you’ll cry and throw yourself backwards onto the ground. everything i’ve read says to set precedence now so that you know tantrums won’t be tolerated. so we’re trying. daddy says you get the temper from me…i ashamed to admit he might be right. 🙂
usually i try to take a nice picture of you on or around the 27th (your day of the month birthday) but with the craziness of thanksgiving coming up and the fact that it gets dark before we even get home, i didn’t get the chance to. however, i thought this picture would work just as well because it sums you up perfectly at this stage: hands in your mouth and stains on your shirt. i’ve been told you are actually a pretty neat eater, which i guess we don’t have food all over our walls but it never fails that you get some of whatever you’re eating all over your clothes. shout is mommie’s new best friend. so while it’s not picture perfect, it’s perfect just the same.
